Carillion designed by S&S (Olin J. Stephens) in 1970 for Derek J Boyer. Design nos 2056 built by Clare Lallow's yard, Ipswich UK. Sister ship to Morning Cloud 3(owned by Sir Edward Heath Britain’s Prime Minister) built same year 1971. Now in the same family ownership for nearly 40 years. The 2013 refit adapted her for short-handed sailing (2 man) and manageable with an inexperienced crew, whilst allowing her to continue to be a “sailors boat”, performing well in the light airs of the mid morning and late afternoon summer Mediterranean conditions, and competitive in IRC and classic regattas. Easy to sail light or double handed, with a first reef required in 14 knots true wind Carillion’s Re rig included 2m added to her mast length, a deeper rudder and reinforced chain plates. Over the years 2012 and 2013 10,000 man hours were devoted to bringing Carillion to concourse condition, resulting in her winning the Conde de Barcelona in 2015. No expense has been spared in maintaining her to this incredible “better than new” condition. Items marked * below were new in the refit.
